My Story
Welcome! My name is Trena Riley. I am a Star consultant and started my Scentsy journey in October 2013. When I started my journey I was working as a full time (self-employed) daycare provider, I still had one child of my own under 18, worked as a volunteer for the Columbus Young Marine program, and just becoming a grandmother for the first time! I definitely didn’t need anything else in my life, but it was for sure something I wanted to try. I had never done anything like this before, so it was a whole new adventure for me.
When I started this journey, I didn’t really have a goal or plan. I loved Scentsy’s values, Simplicity, Authenticity, and Generosity. I loved that I could make my own hours to fit my life. I thought I would sell this great smelling product, have fun with friends and family while sitting around smelling all the fragrances, and make a small paycheck each month. That is exactly what I did. I was so busy at that time in my life I did not take advantage of all the training that Scentsy gave to us for free. I was content selling to the few people who asked me about the product. I have always been outgoing with my own friends and family but when it came to interacting with other people, I was quite shy. In February 2017 I was so overwhelmed with everything else in my life that I had to make a hard decision about what to let go. Unfortunately, that had to be Scentsy for the moment. In March 2019, my husband and I decided to retire from the Young Marine program and turn our attention to other passions in our lives. I reinstated my Scentsy account right away! After doing that training that I should have done way back in 2013, I realized I had really missed out on building my business.
After all the training videos, I was super excited. I wanted to make up for lost time. These videos from other Superstar Directors were not just motivational, they actually gave you tips on running the business, getting new customers, keeping customers, leadership, building relationships with customers and team members! These consultants were not keeping their success a secret, they are there to help you achieve your dreams as well as theirs. Scentsy is a tight family bond of woman and men you can lean on. I love putting my own creative spin on my business, watch my team promote, grow, and believe in themselves. Scentsy is not about selling a product. It is about building relationships (not just trying to get a sale), watching as that shy person I once was disappear. I have recruited my husband into being part of my business. Now that he is by my side, it really is my dream job. I am so happy to grow my business each day instead of going to “work” each day.
